Student musicians jazz up Spring-Ford
Jazz bands from nine school districts participated in the second annual Jazz Band Competition at the Spring-Ford Ninth Grade Center on Friday evening.
Dizzy Gillespie once said, "It's taken me all my life to learn what not to play."
Had he been able to attend the Spring-Ford Jazz Band Competition at the district's Ninth Grade Center last night, the late jazz legend would have seen a group of kids who are off to very promising starts in that learning process.
Jazz bands from Spring-Ford High School, Spring-Ford Intermediate School, and eight other school districts treated an audience to a collection of jazz standards and contemporary jazz works.

Student jazz ensembles from the Perkiomen Valley, North Penn, Lower Merion, Daniel Boone, Quakertown, Hempfield, Bethlehem, and Pennsbury school districts participated.
