Upper Providence Police Honored For Defusing Dangerous Situation

UPPER PROVIDENCE, PA — Police in Upper Providence were honored Monday night for their work last fall to defuse a dangerous situation involving a man undergoing a mental health crisis.

The incident occurred back on Oct. 1, 2019 within Royersford Borough.

Upper Providence police responded to the scene to assist the Royersford police in addressing the situation.

Through non-lethal and extremely careful work, the officers were able to take the man, who was wielding shotgun, into custody.

The man, and the officers involved, all emerged safely.

Upper Providence's Sergeant Sheehan, Corporal Reynolds, Officer Rosser, and Officer Burdsall all received the Unit Citation for meritorious service during the recent township Board of Supervisors meeting.
