VFBA Played Host to KCEA Hoops Tourney

Competition was high and the drive to win even higher on Feb. 24 and 25 as Valley Forge Baptist hosted the 33rd Annual Keystone Christian Education Association AAA Basketball Tournament.

The Lady Patriots played West Chester Christian on Friday night and soundly beat them 33-20. The championship games began early Saturday morning as the girls teams from Canaan Christian Academy of Lake Ariel and Valley Forge Baptist Academy of Collegeville faced off in a tough but enjoyable competition.

Valley Forge Baptist had a starting squad of all seniors while Canaan Christian was down one of their season starters, senior Bekah Misiura, due to a knee injury. Valley Forge Baptist played a game of tough defense but could not quite keep up with Canaan Christian’s outstanding shooting skills and lost by six for a final score of 38-32.

The Valley Forge Baptist boys also played Canaan Christian in this tournament. The game was close as each team traded shots; however, in the end Canaan Christian defeated the Patriots with a score of 56-54. Valley Forge Baptist senior, Horace Ellison, scored 33 points. Canaan was defeated in the championship game against West Chester Christian School.
