World War II U.S. Navy Vet, Longtime Fan Of Spring-Ford Athletics, Passes Away At 90

90-year-old Gordon R. Orner had an abiding love for Spring-Ford sports, in addition to bluebirds.

LINFIELD, PA — Gordon R. Orner, 90, of Linfield, passed away on Sunday, June 11, 2017, in Seasons Hospice at Phoenixville Hospital. Born on February 27, 1927 in Phoenixville, he was a son of the late Helen and George Orner Sr.

Mr. Orner served in the United States Navy during World War II and had then been employed at B.F. Goodrich in Oaks. A faithful servant of Christ who never deviated in his faith, he was a member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Audubon.

Gordon was an avid fan of all Spring-Ford athletic teams; sometimes traveling distances to watch and support the teams he loved. He loved his bluebirds and was the kindest and gentlest person that someone would ever meet.

Mr. Orner is survived by his loving wife of 70 years Eleanor R. (Wilson) Orner and his daughters Mary Beth (Orner) Manville of Yorkville, IL and Jo Orner of Linfield. He is also survived by one sister Loryn Robinson of Spring City.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, 2725 Egypt Road, Audubon, on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 10:00 am. Officiating will be Rev. William R. Mueller. Interment will follow in the Limerick Garden of Memories. Friends will be received from 9:30 am - 10:00 am Saturday at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church.
