Overall Impressions of the Season: "Pretty successful," said head coach Tim Seislove. "We didn't win the league, but it's a tough league, because Owen J. [Roberts] ended up being one of the top five teams in the state. We set a school record for wins at 22 and finished third place in district duals, which is the highest Spring-Ford has ever been able to finish."
Best Match: "We had some big wins in the league to beat Upper Perk[iomen]. Probably the best day we had was beating a Rustin team in district duals who ended up in the top 10 or 15 in the state tournament. Then we beat a pretty good Council Rock North team for third place. We beat those two teams in back-to-back matches. The Rustin match, we won 35-31. That was quite an achievement."
Worst Match: "The Owen J. match was a downer. They were so solid. It was disappointing to lose to them at the score we did. For us, it would have been a major upset, but we would've liked to have won a couple more close matches."
Story of the Year: "For us to finish third in the district was probably the highlight of the season. Coming into the season, some people didn't even have us in the top 10. We were able to stay solid throughout the year, with consistency and good leadership by the seniors."
Unexpected Leader/Performer: "Tyler McGuigan had a record last year of 2-5. This year, he finished fifth and was a match away from going to states. He ended up with 37 wins. That as a pretty good turnaround as a junior.
"Coming into the season, I had a good feeling about these kids because they were a good group to work with. A lot of them came up through our youth program. I was counting on them. It was nice for them to come through like they did."
Thoughts About Next Year: "We're losing a lot of seniors, but hopefully we'll have some young kids ready to step up. We're going to need some good leadership from the group of seniors that we're going to have next year."
Seniors Next Year: Impact: Sean Hennessy, Tyler McGuigan. Other: Trevor Conover, Mario Dreier, Joshua Fleisher, Glenn Grosshanten, Brian McLaverty, Benjamin Schein, John Schubach, Timothy Wright, Shane Zimmie, Brett Bowling
Final Thoughts: "We have a lot of support at our school from an administration standpoint and the athletic director. We had some great turnouts at some of the matches from our fans and student body. It's nice to have a program that people get behind and support."
