5 Things to Do This Weekend
What your friends and neighbors in the Macungie Borough and Lower Macungie Township area are likely to be doing this weekend.

Every Friday, we will offer a sampling of special events, activities and other opportunities to fill out your week to get the most out of living in the Lehigh Valley. Here's what's happening for Jan. 21-23:
* If you didn't get enough of model trains over Christmas or if the kids have convinced you it's time for a Lionel of their own, The Great Lehigh Valley Train Meet may be a good stop. The event offers more than 10,000 square feet of space for everything related to model railroading. Times are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 22 and 23 in Merchants Square, 12th and Vultee streets, Allentown. Tickets are $5 each, free for ages 12 and under.
* If your children are looking for a little drama, "The Adventures of Harold and the Purple Crayon" may be more to their liking. Performed by Enchantment Theatre of Philadelphia, the fanciful tale is one featuring masks, puppets and music and chronicles a wild trip to Mars, a circus and an enchanted garden. Performances are at 1 and 4 p.m. Jan. 22 at Symphony Hall, 23 N. Sixth St., Allentown. Tickets are $18 for adults, $12 for children.

* Baseball's Spring Training may be a month away, but things are stirring at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown. The Lehigh Valley IronPigs present Farmer Sally and mascot FeFe reading stories to children at 10 a.m. Jan. 22. The event is free and will be held in the Majestic Clubhouse Store at the park, 1050 IronPigs Way, Allentown.
* From pigs we go to zoo animals at the Agri-Plex at the Allentown Fairgrounds, 17th and Chew streets, Allentown. The R.W. Commerford & Sons zoo and fun fair comes inside for some winter fun of zoo animals, rides and fair food. Times are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Jan. 22 and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Jan. 23. Tickets are $10 for adults, $7.99 for ages 12 and under.

* And, we have offered some of this weekend's events that are more fun than this one, but it isn't as bad as cleaning the garage, either. , 6667 Lower Macungie Road, Lower Macungie, offers a blood drive open to the public from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 22 in the church. The drive is sponsored by Miller-Keystone Blood Center. Advance reservations are suggested and may be made by calling Lynne Reitz at 610-434-5714. Again, there are more fun ways to spend the morning, but this act of kindness may make you feel warm inside on a cold winter day.
