In Tuesday's edition of The Morning Call, there was a story regarding the tragic deaths of four people in a Buck County home due to suspected carbon monoxide poisoning. Apparently, the victims are a family with school-aged children.
In the body of the story, The Morning Call states that the State Police investigators were not releasing the names of the victims and that they (the police) requested that the Quakertown School District also not release the names.
Why would the police want to withhold the names? Maybe they need to contact next of kin and did not want them to learn of the tragedy in a "cold-hearted" manner. Maybe they have an on-going investigation and by releasing the names, it could interfere with said investigation. I sure whatever the reasons were, they were sound and in the best interest of the people involved.

So what does The Morning Call do? They go and check property records in Bucks County and publish the name of the registered owner of the home. What a bunch of creeps! What possible motive could they have for going against the wishes of the police investigating the deaths of these people and publishing the name? To get a scoop? More than likely.
This is not the first time TMC has done this very thing. Several years ago, a woman was murdered in Emmaus and the police withheld the name of the victim pending the notification of the next of kin. But, The Morning Call, with all it's heart and compassion, checked property records and published the name. WHY?

I for one have had enough. My subscription to that bird-cage liner of a paper has been cancelled. I would love to see advertisers do the same. Maybe then they (TMC) would get the message.
