Medicare Part D Recipients Can Receive Open Enrollment Assistance at Mackenzie’s Office

My office is offering assistance to Medicare Part D recipients who are considering updating their plans during the upcoming open enrollment period.

Rep. Ryan Mackenzie’s (R-Berks/Lehigh) office is offering assistance to Medicare Part D recipients who are considering updating their plans during the upcoming open enrollment period.

“Options are a wonderful thing, but when it comes to Medicare Part D plans, the many choices can seem overwhelming,” said Mackenzie.  “My office is here to assist senior citizens in analyzing the various plans so they can make an informed decision about which alternative is best for their individual situation.”

Assistance will be offered every Friday between Oct. 19 until Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. to noon. No session will be held on Friday, Nov. 23, due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Interested individuals may call the office to make an appointment or come to the office on Friday mornings to learn more.

During the appointments, individuals will need to provide the following:

  • Medicare card.
  • A list of medications they take regularly, including the strength and amount (most pharmacies will provide a printout of a customer’s past prescriptions) and a list of pharmacies they would like to use, if they have a specific preference.
  • Name of current company and plan they are currently enrolled in, for comparison purposes.

Anyone satisfied with his or her present plan does not need to make changes during the end-of-year open enrollment period.  Re-enrollment will occur automatically.  However, this is the time when seniors can compare available plans.

Individuals who cannot participate on Fridays, may contact Mackenzie’s office for a list of other times and locations to receive assistance. To schedule an appointment in Emmaus, please call (610) 965-9933.  The office, open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., is located at Unit 5, 1245 Chestnut St. in Emmaus.
