This Week at the Library: Banned Book Week
This week is Banned Book Week, and there are plenty of programs going on at the library!
It’s October already? I don’t know about you, but it completely snuck up on me, so I forgot that I had two programs tonight! But bring on the astronauts/rockets, and I think we’re going to rock out for Bedtime Booktime! Stay tuned for September’s National Library Card Signup Month raffle winner—a $25 gift card for Pickles Steakhouse.
We also started Banned Book Week this week, so I hope to share something on banning and censorship this week. For now, check out this video put together by Bookman’s Book Store.
Now on for this week!

This week at the library:
Monday: Space Trek: Rockets! 6:30pm. We’re kicking off our space themed school year program with the K-1st graders, aka the Rockets. This program for K-1st grade happens the first Monday night of every month. Each month, we’ll read some books about that month’s theme, then do an activity or craft. Advanced registration is required.

Bedtime Booktime, 7:30pm, ages 2-6. No signup required. Come join us for some stories dressed in your PJs!
Tuesday: 4 year old storytimes, 10:30am and 12:30pm. Advanced registration is required for storytimes, as there’s a limit to how many kids I can fit into the program room, plus advanced registration helps me prepare for the right number of kids… not ending up “short” or wasting craft supplies when people don’t show, and there’s an age cutoff date of 9/12 based on the East Penn School District. Contact us if you’re interested.
Wednesday: 3 year old storytimes, 10:30am and 12:30pm. Again, advanced registration is required for storytimes, for the same reasons as above.
Adult Book Club: 10:30am-12pm. Held in the township building “ballroom”, this month’s selection is Tony and Susan by Austin Wright. Please contact the library for details.
Thursday: 2 year old storytimes, 10:30am and 12:30pm. Again, advanced registration is required for storytimes.
Friday: Baby Lapsit, 9:30am, a “beginner storytime”/introduction to the library for children who were 11 months old or younger as of 9/12/12; advanced registration required.
Ones Storytime, 10:30am; a “beginner storytime”/introduction to the library for children who were between 12-23 months as of 9/12/12; advanced registration required.
So here’s to a new month of programming! Stay tuned for some details on BBW and also about some upcoming adult programs this month. We have one on retirement planning next Wednesday and another on doing your own rain water harvesting. Please contact the library for details on any programs.
