This Week at the Library: One Week to Kickoff!

We're one week away from adult summer reading signups going out and the summer reading kickoff... both schedule for next Monday, June 24th!

I hope everyone had wonderful Father’s Day celebrations! We had a fun Daddy and Me storytime on Saturday morning here at the library. Yesterday, my fiancé, brother and I took my dad to the final round of the US Open. Except for a 15 minute rain shower and our hopes of Phil Mickelson finally winning a US Open being dashed, it was a beautiful day! In other big news from last week…

School’s out for the summer!!! School year 2012-2013 is OVER! (As I’m sure you already know if you have kids in your home or are a teacher.)  And that means it’s already hopping here at the library! I think I’ve been paged a dozen times just Monday morning, which is a sure sign we’re getting busier!

Stop in this week if you haven’t already signed up for summer reading. Our Kickoff event will be held next Monday. Ai Orthodontics is sponsoring and DJ JIMBO is providing the music. Doors will open at 6:00 for the music and Rita’s and giveaways, then we’ll do an official “opening” of summer reading at 6:30. But overall, it’s just a big party (dance party!) with your neighbors! Come out for all the giveaways and entertainment! Contact the library for details or how to sign up. This week, I finish plans for the kickoff and the summer programs.

Also next Monday, signups go out for the Adult Summer Reading program, and the first 75 people to signup get a goodie bag full of gifts/coupons from local businesses! The Adult Summer Reading programming kicks off on Wednesday June 26th with a visit from author Larry Deibert.

There’s information on the online activity calendar about summer reading if you want to see what’s going on, as well as on the Parents tab off our Kids Homepage. That’s where you’ll find the link to sign up and track books online for the reading incentive program. If you’d prefer to track on a print log in the library, those are available in the children’s area with the rest of the signup sheets.

In a couple of days, I’ll post my annual posting about High School Required Reading tips!

As always, if you have any questions on programs or the library in general, please stop in, call or visit our website!
