This Week at the Library: Summer Reading is OVER!
Summer Reading wrap-up and Fall signups go out next week!

It was a great summer! This was my 7th summer reading program, 5th running it, and I can definitely say it was a success! I'm finalizing the tallies for participants and total number of books read, working on identifying the top readers in each age group, and from what I see, our awesome readers will completely trounce last summer's total books read of 7,150. And I haven't even received information about how many books adults have read!
In fact, let's have a little fun with this! We'll post the total number of books read by (or to) kids and teens this summer on our Facebook page around 4:30. Stop by and share our grand total announcement status, and we'll enter you in a raffle to receive 4 FREE Regular Rita's Italian Ice coupons redeemable at the Macungie Route 100 Rita's location!
We had a great time at the finale last week. A couple hundred kids and adults partied to the tunes of DJ Jimbo, enjoyed Rita's thanks to Haffner & Associates CPAs, and received a bunch of giveaways at the LMT pool. They also watched me take a ride (or two) down the new slide fully clothed! There's a video of that, thanks to one of our library dads, on the Facebook page!

Now for the only programs this week... and they're important...

Friday: Baby Lapsit-- 9:30 a.m. An "introduction to the library" for babies 0-11 months as of 9/12/11. This is graduation day!!! Okay, so really it's just an excuse to see them try to eat (cup)cake! But we are celebrating that they'll be moving up to the Ones class in September! Advanced Registration is Necessary for this class, so that we have the right number of cupcakes! Contact the library for details.
Ones -- 10:30 a.m. An "introduction to the library" for toddlers 12-23 months as of 9/12/11. This is also graduation day!!! We also like to see now-2 year olds eat cupcake, but we're celebrating that they'll be moving up to the Two's Storytime in September! This is more like a traditional preschool storytime. Advanced Registration is Necessary for this class, so that we have the right number of cupcakes! Contact the library for details.
Now, because I don't normally post this until Monday afternoon and it happens when the library opens at 10 a.m. next Monday morning, please note that fall program signups will go out at 10 a.m. on August 20!
I will warn you now that the 2 and 3 year old morning storytimes fill up fastest, so get in early if you can! The general schedule is on our website under the Programs/Events tab. All programs require advanced registration, and your child gets placed in a program based on their age by 9/12/12, which is East Penn School District's cutoff date, and they will stay in that program until the next school year starts. There are numerous reasons why we do this, which I'd be happy to share with anyone who has concerns.
Enjoy the last few weeks before school starts again!
