This free wellness program invites participants on a 4.5-mile paddle and 4.5-mile bike ride along the Lehigh River and D&amp;L Trail, guided by nature-based therapeutic practices including forest bathing, also known as Shinrin-yoku. Led in partnership with Stacey Vinci, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and certified forest bathing guide, this program is designed to support emotional, mental, and physical well-being.

<ul><li>Begin at Sand Island in Bethlehem with a warm welcome and reflective forest bathing prompts</li><li>Bike 4.5 miles to Allentowns, Canal Park, via the scenic D&amp;L Trail</li><li>Paddle 4.5 miles down the Lehigh River back to our Sand Island starting point</li><li>We will pause for lunch (please bring your own) and a short guided forest bathing activity</li><li>Learn about Wildlands’ conservation work along the way</li></ul>

Boating offers full-body physical activity that improves core strength and cardiovascular health. Senior Restoration Ecologist Kate Ebel will lead a tour highlighting the meadow restoration work Wildlands has completed, sharing insights into why meadow habitats matter and how native plants support wildlife.
After the tour, participants have the option to take part in a wildflower bioblitz, contributing to citizen science by observing and documenting plant and insect species found in the meadow. Your observations will help scientists better understand local biodiversity and the success of restoration efforts.
Please note: There will be a short but steep walk along a gravel service road to reach the program location. Participants should come prepared with appropriate footwear and be ready for uneven terrain.

This special program offers a behind-the-scenes look at ecological restoration in action and the benefits dam removal provides to rivers, wildlife, and surrounding habitats. Wildlands Conservancy’s Director of Ecological Restoration, Kristie Fach, will lead the program alongside DCNR representatives from Lehigh Gorge State Park, who will explain the goals of the project, how the dam was removed, and what this work means for the health of the Lehigh River watershed. Participants will take a short, easy walk to the project site, followed by an on-site discussion. The program will also include a tentative native planting activity, giving attendees an opportunity to contribute directly to ongoing restoration efforts. Important Information

Saturday, May 16, 2026&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; 1:00PM - 3:00PM EDTThis 2-hour, 1.4-mile (or longer) guided hike explores a 175-acre preserve acquired in 2007 and maintained by Jackson Township, Monroe County. The site is popular with hunters and hunting dog training; pheasant hunting hours end at noon, which is why our hike begins at 1:00 PM. We’ll start with a steep incline on a woods road leading to a scenic lookout at 1,125 feet above sea level, offering views of Wind Gap and a bench for a well-earned rest. From there, we’ll continue along single-track forest trails, walk beside a large field, and pass several historic stone walls. For those interested in additional walking, we can cross the road to explore more fields and enjoy a surprising vista. The Pennsylvania Game Commission has been actively restoring this area by removing invasive Japanese barberry and oriental bittersweet, enhancing native habitat along our route. This event is appropriate for all ages. Please bring water, snacks, and insect repellent. Dress in layers, wear pants you can tuck into socks, comfortable shoes, and sunscreen. Hiking poles are recommended; Wildlands will have poles available to borrow. Leashed dogs are welcome. Please note that no bathrooms are available at the parking area.
