Join Michael Hock, Senior Manager of Preserved Lands, for a guided walk at Wildlands Conservancy’s Black River Sanctuary focused on identifying native and invasive plant species. Learn how these plants impact local ecosystems and get an inside look at Wildlands’ ongoing conservation efforts at the preserve. 
 
Participants will also take part in light, hands‑on invasive species management along the trail to support habitat restoration. Please bring gloves and be prepared to get a little dirty. 
 
Perfect for nature lovers, curious beginners, and anyone interested in conservation and stewardship. All ages welcome!

Wildlands Conservancy’s Summer Camp offers summer fun at our Dorothy Rider Pool Wildlife Sanctuary in Emmaus, PA. Located in the Lehigh Valley, Dorothy Rider Pool Wildlife Sanctuary is generally a convenient 10-15 minutes from Allentown and Macungie, 25 minutes from Bethlehem, as well as 30 minutes from Easton.
Choose among 11 weeks of summer fun, from June 8 through August 21. This 77.5-acre nature preserve is the Lehigh Valley's nature oasis and your classroom, along the Little Lehigh Creek, with special guests including Allentown Symphony, Elmwood Park Zoo, Joshua Tree, PA Fish &amp; Boat Commission and more!

Saturday, July 25, 2026&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;10:00AM -&nbsp;12:00PM EDTJoin Wildlands Conservancy for a guided 2.5‑mile hike through the beautiful 159-acre Mount Nebo Regional Park, a ridge‑top preserve nestled between the Shawnee and Marshalls creeks. This route includes both the short inner loop and the longer 2‑mile outer loop marked with yellow blazes. Along the way, we’ll pass a serene pond nestled in a rocky basin, relax at benches offering peaceful rest stops, and enjoy several scenic viewpoints. 
The trails are generally level, with the exception of one short but steep incline leading up to the inner loop. Portions of the hike pass near private residences—please respect their property as you enjoy the trail.

 <li>This outing is appropriate for all ages.</li>
</ul>

 <li>Please bring water, snacks, insect repellant, and dress in layers for the weather. Wear comfortable shoes—trail conditions may be wet—and apply sunscreen. Hiking poles are optional; Wildlands will have a limited number available to borrow.</li>

 <li>Leashed dogs are welcome.</li>
 <li>No bathrooms are available at the parking lot.</li>

Directions
From I‑80, take Exit 309 for US‑209 N/PA‑447 toward Marshalls Creek for 0.5 miles. Continue onto PA‑447 N/US‑209 N for 1.2 miles. At the circle, stay on US‑209 N. At the traffic light with Buttermilk Falls Rd, turn right. After 0.4 miles, turn left onto Mt. Nebo Rd and continue for 1.9 scenic miles. Look for the Mount Nebo Regional Park sign on your left. Turn in and park in the spacious lot, where you’ll also find picnic tables and a trail map.

Each child-adult team will embark on a shared experience designed to nurture early learning skills and foster a love for nature. Please note that registration is required only for the participating children, however each child must be accompanied by an adult. 



This month:&nbsp; &nbsp;Dive into the wonders of Catasauqua Creek and become a Creek Explorer! 
Discover the fascinating world of aquatic life as you learn how to collect and observe the tiny creatures that call the Catasauqua creek home. This hands-on adventure is perfect for those who want to explore nature up close. Wade into the water (with closed-toe shoes!) and uncover the hidden ecosystem beneath the surface, all while gaining a deeper understanding of the importance of clean water and healthy habitats.

The program begins with an interactive presentation featuring Wildlands’ fascinating wildlife ambassadors. Participants will learn how these animals and play vital roles in supporting wildflowers and healthy local ecosystems. 
 
After the presentation, enjoy a guided hike through Louise Moore Park, where we’ll explore native wildflowers, observe pollinator habitats, and look for wildlife in their natural environment while discussing conservation efforts and seasonal blooms. All ages welcome!
