“Identity theft is the fastest growing crime in America, and perpetrators often get the information they need right from their victim’s trash,” said Mackenzie. “Many cases of identity theft can be avoided by properly disposing of old documents that contain personal information. This could include old bank statements, credit card bills, and any papers that contain account numbers, Social Security numbers, and other sensitive data.”
The event will take place in the parking lot of the Lower Macungie Township administration building, located at 3400 Brookside Road.
Mackenzie noted there is a limit of four bags/boxes per household, and staples do not have to be removed.
Anyone with questions about the event may contact Mackenzie’s office at (610) 965-9933.
