Lehigh Valley Township Supervisor Dies
Upper Macungie Township supervisor and fire marshal died Thursday night.

Upper Macungie Township commissioner Samir Ashmar died of cardiac arrest Thursday night, according to The Morning Call.
Ashmar, 51, was pronounced dead at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest shortly before 9 p.m., The Morning Call reports. Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim said an autopsy will be performed on Friday.
Ashmar was elected to a six-year term as vice-chairman of the board of supervisors in 2009, according to The Morning Call. He was a 32-year veteran of Fire Station 56 in Upper Macungie and the township’s fire marshal and was a vice president with Wells Fargo Bank.
