Ever a fan, Dave Saylor also supports local charities.

At its June 6 meeting, Macungie Borough Council recognized one of its residents, David Saylor, for receiving the first ever IronPigs Community Star Award at a May 23 ceremony held in the infield of Coca Cola Park.
The award commends "anyone who makes a difference in the local community and commits their time and talent to make the Lehigh Valley a better place."

Though Saylor's nominator remains a mystery, some of the achievements mentioned include:
* In 2000, he created and continues to be the chairman of the borough’s Town Beautification Committee. This committee has donated thousands of dollars in order to purchase banners and flags for Main Street, historical street lights, seasonal decorations used throughout the year and holiday lights and decorations for Macungie’s Flower Park.
