Man with Macungie Address Admits to Lewd Act

Gerald Stokes, who says he is homeless, told police he felt 'lonely' during September incident outside the Allentown Public Library.

A homeless man whose address is listed as Macungie was placed on probation after pleading guilty to masturbating in front of the Allentown Public Library, according to a published report and online court records.

Gerald C. Stokes told police when he was arrested on the morning of Sept. 28, a Saturday, that he is homeless, was feeling lonely, and thought there was no one around. A security guard saw Stokes on camera and called police, according to a story in The Morning Call.

Stokes appeared in Lehigh County Court Monday before Judge Kelly Banach, who ordered him to stay out of the library at 12th and Hamilton streets and refrain from alcohol while on probation.

He pleaded guilty to indecent exposure. Charges of open lewdness and disorderly conduct were dropped, the online records say.
