Police Seek Black Vehicle in L. Mac Hit-and-Run

Vehicle kept going after crashing into SUV at Hamilton Boulevard and Mill Creek Road, state police say.

Police want the public's help in finding a black four-door vehicle that crashed into an SUV at Hamilton Boulevard and Mill Creek Road one night earlier this month and kept going.

State police at Fogelsville said the hit-and-run occurred around 10pm Dec. 8, a Sunday, when the SUV -- a 2010 Ford Escape, driven by James W. Asmus, 30, of Emmaus -- was stopped in the left lane of Hamilton, waiting for a green light to turn left onto Mill Creek.

The Lower Macungie crash may have been weather-related. A state police fax says the black vehicle was turning right from Mill Creek onto eastbound Hamilton Boulevard when the driver lost control and "slid" into the Escape's driver-side fender. The black vehicle then fled east.

Asmus was not hurt, the fax said.

The fax lists the other car as "unknown," but adds that Asmus identified it as "a black four-door vehicle."

Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 610-395-1438.
