Premise Maid Serves Up Sweet Summer Treats

The farmstead business in Breinigsville is the perfect place to find ice cream, cakes, and chocolate.

It’s officially summer, and what better way to celebrate than with something cool and sweet?

The next time you’re craving a bit of chocolate or a creamy ice cream cone, head to in Breinigsville.  Sitting on two acres, a stone barn dating back to the pre-Civil War era houses an Ice Creamery and a five-room carriage house is home to a Bakery and Chocolate Shoppe. William Damiano and his family established the business  in 1979, and in 1984 moved it to the location on Route 222 and restored the farmstead.

If you check out the Ice Creamery, you'll be greeted with the scent of golden waffles as you stare at the display case stacked with homemade cones and bowls (there are even chocolate ones covered in sprinkles).

Next to the case sits a freezer filled with 40 premium ice cream flavors in awesome combinations like Peanut Butter Tandy Kake, Black Forest Raspberry Cream and Double Chocolate Brownie, so no matter what you’re craving, there’s something sure to satisfy.  And if you can’t decide, you can always order the Triple Sampler (like I did) and try a small scoop of three different flavors.  My bowl was filled with Shoofly Pie, Coffee Almond Heath Bar Crunch, and Cinnamon Bun (my favorite, because of the mini pieces of cinnamon bun in it).

In the shop’s Bakery, you can find a display of gorgeous Dessert Torte Cakes in flavors like Chocolate Peanut Butter Mousse and Strawberry Shortcake.

And if you’re looking for a traditional cake for a special occasion, they have those too, with a variety of fillings and icings.  (But make sure you allow 72 hours before pickup).

In addition to cakes, the bakery also offers other delicacies like Fruit Pies, German Desserts, and Sugar Cakes.

But if it’s chocolate that you’re after, head to Premise Maid’s own Chocolate Shoppe, filled with tons of homemade truffles, creams, brittles, jellies, and chews.  With the decadent aroma that follows you as you walk through the shop, it’s virtually impossible to resist some of the best-sellers like Milk Chocolate Non-Pareils, Cashew Turtles, or Cordial Cherries.  It even features a variety of sugar-free chocolates.

In between the building you’ll find a courtyard complete with a cobblestone sidewalk and water mill.  So after you’ve picked your sweet poison, grab a shady seat under an umbrella and take a little time to enjoy a homemade summer treat.
