Why does hair go grey? Melanin. It is a chemical in our hair follicle that gives the hair it's color.
As we start to age the pigment cells in the follicle gradually die. When the pigment cells start to contain less melanin the hair will become transparent and create grey, silver or white hair. As the melanin dies completely away the hair will be 100% grey.
Grey hair most noticeable on dark hair. From the time you notice your first grey hair it usually takes ten years to go completely grey.
Remember, we are not our Grandmother's generation. Our grey hair worn with the right style can appear to be beautiful, sexy and eloquent.
