Students Make Shoemaker Elementary's Garden Grow
Shoemaker Elementary's first-graders unveil the new schoolyard garden they helped plant.
officially dedicated its new Schoolyard Garden on May 19 to a crowd of students and parents.
The garden was a part of a STEM Initiative project (a state program designed to introduce children to (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) by teachers Patrice Arnold, Heather Arnold, and April Snyder involving all five first-grade classes at Shoemaker.
The first-graders planted the flowers in the garden and got to explore science by studying soil, plants, and researching the animals that would benefit from the garden. They also wrote letters to business for donations to their gardens.
