This Week at the Library: Summer Reading Kickoff

All the craziness is about to begin! Today, summer reading signups go out for adults at 10:00am. The first 75 adults signed up for the reading program get a goodie bag. Program signups are also available and this Wednesday already there is an author visit for the Adult Summer Reading Kickoff.

Speaking of Kickoffs, the Youth Summer Reading program kicks off TONIGHT with our big community party! Ai Orthodontics is sponsoring and DJ JIMBO is providing the music. The program will officially start at 6:30, but Rita’s, giveaways and DJ will be available at 6:00 when the doors open! Then on Tuesday, the elementary and middle grade age programs start. Wednesday, it’s the preschoolers turn.

There’s information on the online activity calendar if you want to see what’s going on, as well as on the Parents tab off our Kids Homepage. That’s where you’ll find the link to sign up and track books online for the reading incentive program. If you’d prefer to track on a print log in the library, those are available in the children’s area with the rest of the signup sheets.

Also new this week-- our "Gnome on the Shelf" (the garden buddy of the Elf on the Shelf) starts his travels! Each Monday, he'll relocate. You find him, fill out one of the raffle tickets found with him, and return to the front desk, and you'll be entered in a raffle to be pulled at the end of the summer. Also, we'll be trying to find a name for our Gnome friend, so submit (and vote) for your ideas at the Circulation Desk or on our Facebook page. We'll also have a "travel" photo album to give you clues as to where the Gnome is each week. This summer "extra" is open to all ages, even our grownup patrons!
