This Week at the Library

This is the week! After a few months of collecting, lots of hard work sorting and organizing by the Friends, at the end of this week the Friends will host the Fall Book Sale! On Friday and Saturday the sale will be held from 9am-4:30pm, with the preview night for Friends members will be on Thursday from 5-7:30pm. The bag sale will take place from 2:30-4:30, $5/bag, on Saturday to wrap up the sale.

And as we’ve been mentioning.. there will also be a large craft sale going on in the community center on Saturday with tables full of vendors. So if you want to come out to both the book sale and check out the craft fair, think about stopping in on Saturday. However, if you have no interest in the craft sale, you may want to stop in to check out the book sale on Friday to avoid extra traffic! Good news is all the bridge work on Brookside is complete!

This week is also the final week in the current storytime session. Signups will go out for the next 5 week cycle on the day that age group meets (4s on Tuesdays, 3s on Wednesdays, and 2s on Thursday), however, the next cycle will not begin until the week of January 6th. We recognize that from the week of Thanksgiving through the New Year, there are a lot of activities going on, so it’s not always easy to get in for storytime. But in order to still have an opportunity, we’ll have drop-by storytimes on Wednesdays from December 4th through 18th at 10:30 or 12:30 for all the kids who would be age-eligible for the 2s, 3s or 4s storytime cycles. No need to sign up! But please continue to come out as it will help keep your child in the storytime routine.

This Week at the Library:

Monday: Roots; 6:30pm; Gr. 4-7. This is our monthly program for children in 4th through 7th grade.  We “dug” the “Dig” summer reading theme so much, we decided to keep it going during the school year, focusing on “roots”… plants, trees, hair, family history. Each month we’ll read some stories and do a craft. Advanced registration is required.

Intro to Excel; 6pm. Learn the basics of Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. Topics covered include: uses of Excel, formatting of spreadsheets, & simple formulas. Advanced registration and a $5 class fee are required.

Tuesday: 4 year old storytimes, 10:30am and 12:30pm. Advanced registration is required for storytimes, as there’s a limit to how many kids I can fit into the program room, plus advanced registration helps me prepare for the right number of kids… not ending up “short” or wasting craft supplies when people don’t show, and there’s an age cutoff date of 9/12 based on the East Penn School District.

Intro to PowerPoint 2010; 5pm. We’ll cover how to create and present professional-looking slide presentations.  Students will be introduced to navigating basics that will enable them to insert text, themes, images, SmartArt graphics, sound, and video in a presentation. Advanced registration and a $5 class fee are required.

Advanced registration and a $5 class fee are required.

Thursday: 2 year old storytimes, 10:30am and 12:30pm. Advanced registration is required for same reasons as above.

Friday: Book Sale; 9am-4:30pm. The Friends of LML are hosting our annual Fall Book Sale. Come check out the huge selection and support the library at the same time!

Saturday: Book Sale; 9am-4:30pm. Day 2 of the Fall Book Sale. Today, you can take advantage of both the Book Sale and the Community Center-wide Craft Fair! Parking will be limited due to the volume expected, so plan accordingly!
