This Week at the Library

Week 1 of Summer Reading is officially in the books! And what a busy week it was! We had over 200 people at the kids Summer Reading Kickoff party enjoying Rita’s from Ai Orthodontics, music by DJ Jimbo, and lots of other freebies. Over 45 kids attended elementary school age programs on Tuesday, and 60 preschoolers came out to our first iDig storytimes of the summer. 1500+ books have already been read by over 150 readers. And a chorus of “Where’s the Gnome?” could be heard from kids and adults alike as people began to search for our “Gnome on the Shelf”.

Speaking of our Library Gnome, if you haven’t started playing the game yet, join in at any time! He moves to a new location to the library every Monday; every Thursday we post a photo clue of his travels on our Facebook page. If you find him, you fill out a raffle ticket and get a chance at a prize at the end of the summer. You can also help us name him… there are a few suggestions we’ve already received and you can add your own and vote through a poll at the top of our Facebook page.

On the Adult Summer reading front, there are still goodie bags available if you’ve yet to sign up for the weekly raffle reading program.
