That was some snow this weekend! My husband and I volunteered at the Christmas City 5k and 5-miler Saturday morning, and it was fun seeing all those crazy… er… passionate runners (most of whom were dressed up like Santa, an elf, in tutus or some other costume) run through lightly falling snow. Thankfully, the race was finished and we were all able to head home just as snow was actually starting to stick! Hopefully, like us, you were able to enjoy some time in the snow, inside warm… and maybe baking cookies. Oatmeal craisin dark chocolate chip in our house :)
I posted last week, but as a reminder since we’re in the snow season, at the bottom I’ll post some information about where to find our closings and delays posted, since we needed to close last week and there’s another chance of snow tomorrow.
This week at the library…

Monday: Roots; 6:30pm; Gr 4-7th. This is our monthly program for children in 4th through 7th grade. We “dug” the “Dig” summer reading theme so much, we decided to keep it going during the school year, focusing on “roots”… plants, trees, hair, family history. Each month we’ll read some stories and do a craft. Advanced registration is required.
Wednesday: Winter Drop-by Storytimes, 10:30am and 12:30pm. Ages 2-5 (since 9/12/13). No signup required. Drop in any Wednesday the first three weeks in December as you schedule permits and we’ll read some stories and do a simple craft!

Now to the closing policy: We operate independent of the East Penn School District in our own delays and closings decisions, meaning even if EPSD is closed one day, we may still open or open late. However, as far as children’s programs go, we take a cue from East Penn: If EPSD has a two hour delay, morning programs are cancelled. If EPSD has an early dismissal, afternoon and evening programs are cancelled. If EPSD is closed for the day, all children’s programs are cancelled. You can find the library’s winter weather delay and closing information by checking our website (www.lowermaclib.org) which will have a gray banner across the top with any information, on our Facebook page (www.facebook.com/lowermacungielibrary), or on WFMZ.
