Whiz Kid: Nisha Mony

Her experiment shows that rain cloud direction can affect the pH of rainwater.

Name:  Nisha Mony

School:  Eighth- grader at Eyer Middle School

Accomplishment:  Won first place in the chemistry category at the Region 3 science fair of the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science which includes students from Schuylkill, Berks, Lehigh, Carbon and Northampton counties.

Key to Awesomeness:  Nisha’s project was “Does the Direction in Which Rain Clouds Come Affect the pH of the Rainwater?”  In her experiment, she tested the pH of rainwater which came from different directions, checking to see if the pH would be different or the same, depending on the direction. 

After documenting and reviewing the results she said, “The pH of the rain water was the same in some directions, but not all of them.”

Nisha’s favorite subject is science.  She is a member of Junior Kid to Kid and the National Junior Honor Society.  She enjoys swimming and is on the Lower Macungie Youth Association’s U14 softball team.

She has not yet decided which road she'll pursue after she graduates.
