2 Arrested After Shooting In Lower Providence Parking Lot: Police

An extensive investigation, including interviews and surveillance, led investigators to the suspects, officials said.

LOWER PROVIDENCE TOWNSHIP, PA — Two Norristown men have been arrested in connection with the shooting that occurred in Audubon in March, police said.

Marcus Gilbert, 37, and his brother, Jabreel Gilbert, 35, have been charged with aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy to commit aggravated assault, and related counts.

The incident occurred on March 19 at around 6:39 p.m. in the Chickie and Pete's parking lot on 675 Shannondell Boulevard.

Circumstances leading up to the shooting remain unclear. Police said the victim who was shot at was followed in a vehicle leading up to the shooting.

After both vehicles stopped at Chickie and Pete's, one of the Gilberts came out of the vehicle and pointed a semiautomatic handgun inside the victim's car, according to authorities.

The victim sped away as Gilbert fired. The shot missed, police said.

The Gilberts then fled the scene.

Police used numerous witness interviews, surveillance, and more to identify the brothers. Both were taken into custody without incident on April 29.

They failed to post $500,000 bail and were booked at Montgomery County Correctional Facility. A prelminary hearing is forthcoming.
