After a 9 year hiatus, the Lower Providence Warrior's Cheerleaders took first place at their very first competitive event since 2004.
Under the guidance of returning head coach, Janice Sbei, the Lady Warriors took top honors at the Plymouth Whitemarsh Cheer Competition. With seasoned choreographer and assistant coaches Alicia Sbei and Jennifer Kohl, the group of 13 went on to win Grand Champions in the Youth Division, solidifying the return of Lower Providence as a force to be reckoned with both on the field and, in the gym.
The Warriors next endeavor was Garnet Valley. The young squad competed against 8 other teams ranging in skill from novice to all-star and earned an Outstanding Performance trophy as well as the coveted Spirit Award (which they beat out 90 teams to obtain).
Last stop on the 2014 LPW Competition circuit was Pope John Paul II Cheer Invitational. Missing two girls from the original 13, LP had to Adjust, Adapt & Achieve in order to finish strong and that is just what they did. These young athletes placed 2nd in their division by 30 points, validating their talent and commitment to their chosen sport. "Most of the girls on this team were first year cheerleaders and I couldn't be more proud" said Coach Janice, "the groundwork is now in place for LP Cheer to return and maintain the level of excellence that propelled us years ago, to BE the team to beat".
Lower Providence Cheerleading is rebuilding with new coaches, new ideas, and fresh routines, and if this year is any indication, it looks like they are headed in the right direction. For more information on how to join, please contact Janice Sbei, at LPWCheerCoach@gmail.com - now recruiting girls ages 4-15
