LOWER PROVIDENCE, PA — Lower Providence Township has canceled it's Fourth of July celebration and fireworks due to the extreme heat, they announced Wednesday afternoon.
Officials said they're working to reschedule the fireworks for a later date.
"We understand that this change may cause an inconvenience for you, and we are sincerely sorry, but the circumstances are beyond our control," the township said.
Officials cited the safety of the community as well as volunteers.
It comes the day after Norristown announced the cancelation of their Fourth of July parade, although Norristown's fireworks and Elmwood Park celebration remain scheduled.
