4 Potassium Iodide Distribution Events To Be Held Around Montco This Week

Officials are increasing efforts to provide the tablets to residents within 10 miles of the Limerick nuclear plant.

NORRISTOWN, PA — Four additional potassium iodide distribution event swill be held around Montgomery County this Thursday, Aug. 13.

The nuclear exposure emergency preparedness events are organized by the Montgomery County Department of Health.

Officials say that potassium iodide can help protect the thyroid gland from the harmful effects of radioactive iodine that may be released during a nuclear accident.

Similar events are being held Thursday at the Upper Providence Township administration building, the Lower Pottsgrove Township Building, the Limerick Fire Station, and the Lower Pottsgrove Township building.

Visit any of the events from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to receive free tablets.

All individuals who live or work within a 10 mile radius of the Limerick nuclear plant are eligible for the tablets.

No registration is required.
