LOWER PROVIDENCE, PA — Halloween weekend is nearly here, and communities around the region are celebrating this week with parades, special giveaways, "trunk or treat" events, and more.
Meanwhile, several communities have announced official trick or treating hours and curfews for Halloween and Mischief Night.
Lower Providence is not one of the municipalities that regulates the holiday in that way.
However, the township traditionally has patrol officers out from around 4 or 5 p.m. until around 9 p.m. giving out candy bags.
Residents who are planning on giving out candy should turn on porch lights or exterior lights, or make it clear with decorations that they are participating.
The borough urges trick or treaters to use sidewalks and crosswalks and to carry a flashlight.
Drivers are also reminded to slow down and be wary of children running.
