Ever Think of a Career in Real Estate?

With the Real Estate market picking up, many people will once again be thinking of a career in Real Estate and may not know how to get started. Currently there are two classes totally 60 hours that are needed to obtain your Salesperson license in Pennsylvania. These courses can be taken live during the day, evenings or on the weekends, or they may be taken online. A test is given at the end of each 30 hour course. The courses are called Real Estate Practice and Real Estate Fundamentals. After both of these are completed, there is a two part test that must be taken to become licensed. There is legislation pending that will increase the amount of class time to 90 hours, so if you are thinking of becoming a Real Estate Salesperson, this would be the time to do it.

The current two classes will give you the theory and the law, but the rest of your learning occurs on-the-job with a Real Estate Broker of your choice. It is important to align yourself with a broker who has a mentor program as well as a comprehensive training program which includes one-on-one customized coaching.

As a real estate broker for over 26 years at CENTURY 21 Alliance, I can tell you the top three things that attract and keep agents in our business. First, your paycheck is directly related to your efforts. If you work a full 40-50 hours a week, you can easily see a six figure income after your first year. Secondly, your schedule is flexible so you can take vacation when you want, or attend that school trip without having to ask anyone for time off. Last but not least, is the fulfillment you experience when you hand your clients the keys to their new home, or help a seller transition to the next chapter in their life.
