Linda (Gomery) Kostelny, 62, of Collegeville Pa, died suddenly Thursday (9/20) in the Paoli Memorial Medical Center. She was the diving coach for Methacton High School and the Methacton Aquatic Club and was the former diving coach for Plymouth Whitemarsh H.S. and Aquatic Club.
Mrs. Kostelny was born in Bryn Mawr, Pa, the daughter of the late Harold and the late Helen Hasson Gomery. Wife of the late Robert J. Kostelny who also died suddenly in 1998.
Linda was a graduate of Norristown H.S. class of 1967 and was active in their dive team and swim team. She also was a graduate of West Chester University class of 1971. In Linda's teens she dove for the Vespar Diving Club.
Linda was well known as an experienced diving coach and was the former swim coach and manager for the Skippack and Nine Oaks Swim Clubs.
As many of her friends and students knew, she was very fond of her Irish traditions and heritage along with dolphins and Rod Stewart.
For many years she summered with her family at Isle of Palms S.C. while visiting with her living sisters. Linda loved spending time with her daughter and her handsome grandsons who she doted on, looking forward to their weekly excursions. She was a former resident of Lafayette Hill and was a former member of Saint Philip Neri Church and currently was a member of Saint Eleanor Church in Collegeville.
She is survived by one daughter: Kristina L. Kostelny-Yoder (Ben) of Collegeville, Pa, One sister: Carol Black (Donald) of Mount Pleasant, SC, One brother: Bud Gomery (Deb) of Colorado, 2 Grandsons – Brock and Ryder, and 3 Nephews – Donald, Steven, and Kyle.
Friends may call Wednesday 9/26/2012 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Saint Eleanor Church, 647 Locust St, Collegeville, Pa 19426.
A memorial funeral mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. and burial will be private.
