LOWER PROVIDENCE, PA — Organizers have postponed the annual Lower Providence Firefighter's Fair for 2020 due to coronavirus health concerns.

The decision was made Tuesday "careful consideration for the health and safety of the community and our membership in consultation with our vendor," the Lower Providence Fire Department said in a statement.

The possibility remains that the fair could be rescheduled at some point in 2020.

However, officials said that would only be done if they were confident "the health and well-being of guests and membership is possible."

The popular community event, which has served as a major fundraiser for the department since the 1940s, had been scheduled for June 6 through June 15.
