And so it has begun. I've gotten offers to sell life insurance. I've gotten an email to start my own State Farm Agency. I've been told I'd make a great door-to-door salesman... clearly, none of these resume surfers have ever met me in real life. I neither have experience in nor care remotely to do any of those jobs.
Nevertheless, sending resumes out in mass has resulted me, just two weeks into being "newly unemployed" (sounds like a disease to me...), I was able to land one interview. Yeah, if you are wondering, that is about a 75:1 ratio, resumes sent to interviews scored... sigh...
I scrambled to find a suit that fit properly and would do for a business professional. I won't lie. It's been a while since I've donned the interview suit. Most offices permit "business casual," and it's been quite some time since I had to find appropriate garb for a first impression.

I managed to create a presentable self, and got my resume all cleaned up. I printed it on that fancy paper. Because, gawd knows, one can't be trusted unless they've wasted an extra $15 on thicker stock paper... I wish I knew why in the hell that mattered, but just in case it did, I bought some.
I prayed to the Ink Gods that the ink would not run out or look too cheap on my fancy new paper. It worked out. I dusted off a leather notebook, found a working pen in the dump we call a house, and slid my fancy-pants resume copies into my binder.

When it was all said and done, I have to say I pulled off the look fairly well. I'd hire me. How'd it go? I think it went well. I have not heard anything back yet, but the conversation moved along, I had prompt and well-thought-out answers and felt I could honestly do the role.
Now? The waiting game... How long do you think is acceptable to respond to a candidate? Think I'll hear in a week? Two? Back to house cleaning...
