Induct Chubby Checker in to The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

Induct Chubby Checker in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!

Chubby Checker (born Ernest Evans, October 3, 1941) is an American legendary singer and song-writer.  He is famous for his rendition of the song "The Twist" (cover of Hank Ballard) and had everyone in America and all over the world dancing and "twisting" for over 50 years!  He as born in South Carolina, but grew up on the streets of Philly singing street corner harmonies and entertaining friends and family.

Checker introduced his version of "The Twist" when he was 18 years old in Wildwood, NJ and went on to become the only top Billboard Hot 100 twice in two seperate chart runs.  Previously he had recorded the song for American Bandstand with host Dick Clark, where he got his nickname Chubby Checker.

Chubby Checker is still not in the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame.  I don't there there is a person who's ever been to a wedding that has not done the twist let-a-lone the millions of teenagers back in the day who he helped free from not being able to move while dancing.  Recently there has been a push to get him inducted.  He deserves to be recognized for his musical achievements.  His birthday is October 3rd.  He will be 71 years old.  Let's see how big we can grow this group in October!
