Poem for "World Poetry Day": "Collapsar"
"Collapsar" is a poem I wrote in my early years as a Christian. I am sharing it for World Poetry Day to help ensure that some Christian poetry is represented.
"COLLAPSAR"
(This is a poem I wrote in my early years as a Christian.)
(Patch was encouraging poetry submissions for World Poetry Day and I wanted to help make sure that some Christian poetry was included.)

My heart, a black hole, collapsed inward, condensing.

It took without giving from all who passed by.
It grabbed at the brightness, the light and the shining
Of everyone else in the sky.
But then came Your love, Jesus,
Matchless in power,
An infinite, swift-flowing stream.
You poured it upon me from every direction,
Abundance I never could dream.
It got down inside me...
Ignited...
Exploded...
It blew me apart with a sigh.
You brought forth a loving and radiant star
From a greedy black hole in the sky.
So now, when I start to slip back into selfishness,
Dimming, beginning to cool and decay,
Remind me you’re in me,
Too strong to hold onto.
Insist on proclaiming the Day.
