Christmas Day Fire Ravages Lower Providence Home
Local crews battled the blaze for four hours on Christmas Day.
LOWER PROVIDENCE, PA — A home in Lower Providence was ravaged by a fire on Christmas Day. No injuries were reported.
The incident occurred at around 4 p.m. on the 700 block of Barrington Road, in the Collegeville section of the township.
The Lower Providence Fire Department said they had command officers on scene within four minutes. The fire was placed under initial control by 5:18 p.m., but the damage was severe.

The family was not home at the time of the fire, authorities confirmed.
The cause of the blaze is not clear and remains under investigation, authorities said. The Lower Providence Fire Marshal is working with the State Fire Marshal and the Regional Fire Investigation team.

Due to the strength of the fire, crews worked for four hours to fully contain the scene. Officials praised the skill of the crews on scene in containing what could have been an even worse disaster.
"The performance of the firefighters was exceptional," Lower Providence Fire Chief James Lentz said. "Dozens of firefighters, both career and volunteer, worked together seamlessly."
Local officials shared their condolences on Tuesday, describing the event as "devastating" to the family and neighborhood community.
"I'm grateful for our Fire and EMS community who arrived on the scene and put out the fire quickly," State Rep. Joe Webster said. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time."
