Collegeville Has The 4th Best Credit Score In Pennsylvania

Several Philadelphia-area communities have some of the highest average credit scores in the nation, according to a WalletHub study, although that doesn’t include Philadelphia itself.

The study asked the simple questions:

Have you ever wondered how well your neighbors, your coworkers or perhaps your local Starbucks barista handle their finances? Are they as responsible — or irresponsible — as you when it comes to paying your bills or knowing when to keep your plastic in your pocket?

Newtown led the southeastern part of the Keystone State with a 734.43 score, placing third in the state and tied for 51st in the nation.

Collegeville led Montgomery County communities with a 727.42 score, good enough for 110th in the nation and fifth in Pennsylvania.

Malvern, meanwhile, led Chester County, placing seventh in the state.

Philadelphia sat near the bottom of the list, with the second worst score in Pennsylvania and ranking only in the 9th percentile.

The Villages, FL ranked as #1 in the United States with an average 779.51 credit score.

In order to identify the cities with the highest and lowest credit scores, WalletHub’s analysts compared the average credit scores of residents in each of 2,570 U.S. “cities” as of September 2015, based on TransUnion data.

Note that “city” refers to city proper and excludes surrounding metro areas.

The Villages, Florida led the whole nation, with a score of 779.51.
