The National Weather Service has upgraded its storm warnings for the region.

Dreaming of a white Thanksgiving?
The National Weather Service on Tuesday evening changed its snowfall predictions for Wednesday’s winter storm, and upgraded the Winter Storm Watch previously in place for the region.
Chester, Delaware and Philadelphia counties will get 2 to 4 inches of snow from 7 a.m. Wednesday through 7 a.m. Thursday, the NWS says, while Montgomery County will see between 4 and 6 inches.

The National Weather Storm says that the timing of the storm has sped up. “It’s increasingly unlikely that you will be able to ‘beat’ the storm by traveling early on Wednesday,” the NWS says.
Sustained winds of up to 20 mph with gusts of up to 35 mph are predicted, and localized flooding is possible, the NWS says.

“Land and air travel will be negatively impacted Wednesday and Wednesday night just before a major holiday,” the NWS says. “Power outages are likely with the combination of gusty winds and snow hanging on wires and tree limbs.”
The Winter Storm Watch previously in place has been upgraded to a Winter Storm Advisory for most of the Philadelphia region. Western Chester and Montgomery counties are under a stronger Winter Storm Warning, which means that “forecaster confidence has increased for a significant winter storm” in those locations.
