Fight Back Against The Opioid Crisis: Montco Forum Coming Up

The event aims to empower residents "to engage policymakers and advocate for policy change."

NORRISTOWN, PA — As the scourge of opioids continues to rip across Pennsylvania, an upcoming event in Norristown aims to empower residents to make a difference in the epidemic.

The Montgomery County Opioid Advocacy Forum will be held on Saturday, May 25 at the Montgomery County Human Services Center.

According to organizers, here are a few of the main poitns that will be addressed:

  • Gain knowledge on the basics of harm reduction and what is meant by spectrum of recovery
  • Discover how a bill is made and what that means for policy advocacy
  • Demystify and the process of interacting with elected officials. Find out about the different ways to initiate a conversation and increase confidence in those exchanges
  • Learn how to craft your story and gain the necessary talking points for a successful visit with your elected officials

The forum is being organized by the Norristown Police Department, Sobriety Solutions, and the Pennsylvania Harm Reducation Coalition.

The program will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Center is located on 143 DeKalb Street in Norristown.
