Man Tried To Meet 12-Year-Old Girl For Sex In Lower Providence: Police

Police said he also agreed to pay $100.

LOWER PROVIDENCE, PA — A Pennsylvania man tried to meet who he thought was a 12-year-old girl for paid sex in Lower Providence, according to the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office.

Tod Bennet Carr, 61, of Downingtown, has been sentenced to 2.5 to 7 years in prison, court documents state.

Carr offered to pay $100 to an undercover agent in an online forum back in Jan. 2023, the Times Herald first reported.

The website Carr used is a known site for adult prostitution, police said.

Carr acknowledged that the "child" he was going to meet was only 12, and he communicated with the undercover officer through a fake social media profile of a child clearly proving her age, according to media reports.

Carr has also been sentenced to 10 years probation and must register as a sex offender.
