What are the smartest high schools in the state?

While SAT scores don’t mean everything, it’s certainly one way to compare the performance and results of schools as they prepare students for college and beyond.

The Pennsylvania Department of Education has released statistics for the average 2015 SAT scores for 691 public schools across Pennsylvania.

The results are good for southeastern Pennsylvania, as the first seven schools from the list are all from the area.

Philadelphia’s Julia R. Masterman led with the way with an incredible outlier of 1993, more than 100 points ahead of Chester County’s champion, Downingtown, in second place.

Harriton (5th), Radnor (6th), and Council Rock (9th) represented Montgomery, Delaware, and Bucks counties, respectively, in the top 10.

The average score across the state was 1481. The Community Academy of Philadelphia had the lowest average score in the state, with a 903.
