UPDATE: Methacton High School Lock Down Lifted After Threats

A man in his twenties, who was the ex-boyfriend of a student, had reportedly made threats to the girl and her family.

Methacton High School was locked down on Wednesday morning after threats were made against a student in the high school, according to the school district.

The district said they became aware of the threat to the student early in the morning.

One individual has reportedly been taken into custody. The man, in his early twenties, was angry over a recent breakup, according to NBC Philadelphia.

He reportedly threatened his ex-girlfriend and her family.

He has not yet been identified and his arraignment is pending.

The lockdown was lifted at 9:25 a.m. once the school was secured.

They posted the following note to their website:

Early this morning, we were notified of a threat against a student at the high school. In consultation with law enforcement and in an abundance of caution, the high school was placed on lock-out as law enforcement investigated the threat. The individual responsible is now in custody, and we will be returning to a regular building operation.

We appreciate the cooperation of our families as we secured our students and our building. Thank you.

Methacton is located on Kriebel Mill Road in Eagleville. It serves the Lower Providence area and parts of Norristown and North Wales.
