Person With Disabilities Rescued After House Fire In Lower Providence

The resident was located safely as fire boiled off the rooftop solar panels, officials said.

LOWER PROVIDENCE, PA — A resident with disabilities was kept safe and property damage was limited after a swift response by firefighters and first responders to a house fire in Lower Providence Monday.

The incident occurred at around 1:30 p.m. at a single story home near the corner of Martha Lane and Highgate Road.

Smoke and fire were seen coming from the rooftop and solar panels when crews arrived, the Lower Providence Fire Department said.

First responders had been warned that the resident had disabilities and could possibly be trapped inside. They searched the entire house but were unable to find anyone. Eventually, they located the resident outside the home and brought him to safety.

Meanwhile, firefighters traced the source of the fire to the attic area and swiftly put it out.

"Great work by all companies on scene ensuring a quick knock of the fire and limiting further damage to the residence," Lower Providence Fire Department said.

No injuries were reported.

Lower Providence was assisted on the scene by Norriton Fire Engine Company, Collegeville Fire Company, Worcester Volunteer Fire Department, and Norristown Fire Department.
