Lower Southampton Man Assaulted Minor Several Times: PD

LOWER SOUTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA — A 37-year-old township man has been charged with the indecent assault of a minor, police said.

The Lower Southampton Township Police Department arrested Derek Leo Burket on Friday following an investigation of sexual assault of a minor.

Burket faces felony charges with corruption of minors and the indecent assault on a person less than 13 years of age.

Lower Southampton Detectives were notified of an incident that occurred between Burket and a child under 13 years of age after the child disclosed the abuse to an adult.

Police said the child later described numerous acts of a sexual nature to a child forensic interviewer.

Additionally, another witness told investigators that Burket admitted the sexual incidents to her.

Burket was arraigned with bail set at $75,000 with 10 percent.
