Charlotte Heats Up!

Hey everyone,

I drove down to Charlotte on Sunday. Proud to serve as a delegate for President Obama in 2012. The town is beautiful, the people are very gracious, and the logistics seem in ship-shape as we prepare for the start of business tomorrow.

Plenty of regional festivities already underway (I missed out on last night's PA event writing an Op-ed - for a rival news org!) but am looking forward to a southern celebration at a local museum this evening.

Went to preview the venue for the convention and I can assure you that the PA delegation is well seated - to the right of the podium as you face the speaker. Look for us on TV!

We are in a much more intimate venue than when we were in Denver (my only other convention) and the vibe should be electric in the Time Warner Arena.

After last week's Republican convention - I can tell you that the delegates here are looking forward to making the case for President Obama's exceptional stewardship through turbulent times, proud of the record and the progress he has delivered, and looking forward to highlighting the very stark choice America faces.

We have seen what the Republicans have to offer and it is a sorry rerun of a movie that ends badly. They stated clearly that they want to take America back - and I remember where we were 4 years ago, on the precipice of a 2nd Great Depression. I have no desire to go back there at all - let's keep moving this country forward!

I'll post some photos as the convention gets underway and hope you get a chance to watch the headliners speak during primetime on tv - the main speakers will appear between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. each evening.
