Theresa Markosian's Red Carpet Flair
What inspired successful artist, Theresa Markosian, to move from music to fashion?

I still have my T-shirt from when “Terisa” released her single entitled “Take My Heart.” The design features the stunning image of a young woman who obviously knows how to create a look that is at once jaw-dropping and refined.
In her performing days, Theresa Markosian had her share of excitement and acclaim. She received numerous awards for her songwriting. Her single, “Feel My Love,” was on the Billboard Hot Breakouts chart. During those times, Theresa regularly performed with and rubbed elbows with celebrities such as K7, 2 in a Room, Tito Puente Jr, Kool & the Gang, Angel from the Cover Girls, and Lisa Lisa!

Eventually, Theresa left the frenzied pace of the music business so she could focus on her family. However, she discovered that her inner artist refused to remain silent.
Launching District 5 Boutique wasn’t a decision that happened in the flash of a moment, it took years of receiving compliments and requests for fashion consultation until the idea really started to sink in. In fact, it may have been her own daughter’s thirst for fashion which gave Theresa the final push she needed to open her online shop.

“People have always told me things like, ‘I love the way you dress, where did you get that?!’” she informed. “So, I figured since people like my taste, maybe I should create a place where they could have a piece of it?”
“My boutique is different because in lieu of traditional prom/pageant style dresses, I feature designer, red carpet style dresses. And, I offer them at probably the lowest prices around. Some of the $800 dresses are priced at just $250-$300. My boutique also offers payment plans in order to give every woman the chance to own a designer brand.”
“Creating and expressing myself through art and music has always been my thing and, one way or another, I’ll always be an artist at heart. I expressed my music through songwriting and singing, but now I can express things visually through fashion.”
Theresa has several fashion shows planned for the upcoming months and she is working on her own line called “Tresana” for release sometime in 2012! For more information, visit www.district5boutique.com.
