Excessive Heat Watch Friday, Saturday

The National Weather Service issued an excessive heat watch beginning Friday and remain in effect until Saturday.

The National Weather Service based in Mount Holly, NJ, issued an excessive heat watch, which will go into effect Friday afternoon and remain in effect until Saturday evening in the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

During the excessive heat watch, heat index values will reach around 100 degrees during the afternoon and early evening hours of Friday and Saturday.

An excessive heat watch means that a prolonged period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are possible.

The National Weather Service advises to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun and check up on relatives and neighbors.
