Neshaminy 11-12 Budget Update

An update on the 2011-2012 budget was given at Tuesday's school board meeting.

Tuesday evening, Neshaminy Superintendent Louis Muenker provided the public with a brief update of the proposed 2011-2012 budget.

Muenker said that administration is still working on the budget, which now has a $2.8 million deficit. Previously, Muenker that brought the deficit to $3.8 million.

On June 21, Muenker said that he hopes to present both the board and public with the final budget recommendations.

In addition, Muenker said that the district is still waiting to hear from Harrisburg to see if there will be any relief from Governor Corbett's budget.

If the school board approves the final budget prior to the state approving its budget, Muenker said that the district will "hopefully get the green light to reopen our budget if they’re able to give us some relief."

According to board President Ritchie Webb, "the $2.8 million deficit is a worst case scenario." Webb also said that he is hoping that the district will receive some relief from the state budget.

"The budget is a moving document, and it will continue to move until June 21," Webb said.
